Floor Covering Industry

What consists of the floor covering Industry:

Some Manufacturer's have a full service facility & other's use commission & converter's.

COMMISSION YARN SPINNERS

Spinners - To the fiber manufacturer, spinning is synonymous with extrusion of polymer through the small holes of the spinneret into synthetic fiber. To the conventional textile yarn mill, spinning is the conversion of staple fiber into spun yarn.

COMMISSION FILAMENT TWISTERS & HEATSETTERS

Twisters - A permanent twist in yarn achieved by the application of high dry heat.

Heatsetters - Process for stablization of carpet yarns by exposure to heat. Conventional autoclave heat-setting treats yarns in relaxed skein configuration with pressurized steam, usually at temperatures in the 240-300 F range, often 270 F for nylon. Some continuous heat-setting machines employ dry heat. The principal benefits are twist retention in piled yarns in cut-pile carpet and general stabilization of yarn configuration.

COMMISSION DYERS, PRINTERS & FINISHERS

Dyers - The process of coloring materials; impregnating fabric with dyestuff.

Printers - Surface designs or patterns on carpet made with dye applied with either engraved rollers or blocks, multiple prints or special jet prints.

Finishers - A collective term denoting processing of carpets and textiles subsequent to tufting, weaving , and dyeing. Carpet finishing processes include shearing, brushing, application of secondary backing, application of attached foam cushion, application of soil retardant and antistatic chemicals, back beating, steaming, and others.

COMMISSION YARN AND FIBER DYERS

Fiber Dyers - Yarn dyed before being fabricated into carpet.

Yarn - Dyeing yarn before tufting or weaving it into carpet.

COMMISSION TUFTERS

Tufters - The variety of textures possible in tufted carpet is increasing as a result of recent innovations in tufting equipment. The tufted pile can be multi-level, cut or uncut. Striated and carved effects can be achieved. The texture can be looped or plush, to mention a few of the possibilities. Athough tufted carpet were originally made only of a single color or moresque yarns, they are now being made in multicolor patterns, with an increasing variety of textural effects. Because of continual refinements in the tufting process, tufted carpets will definitely continue to become more versatile in design and appearance.
